Meet some of the Misty Mountain Crew!
Rebecca found her love for horses at the age of 5 when in Montana. The second Rebecca was in the saddle, she was hooked. This passion continued as she started her riding career at Smoke Rise Riding Club. Rebecca began showing regularly as she aged and moved to West Milford Equestrian Center to focus on Hunter/Jumpers. After showing in the Bit O' Straw Classic at HITS in 2009 and placing 9th overall, Rebecca wanted to explore more riding disciplines. In 2011, Rebecca moved to the jumper ring where she learned her love for speed! Her love for pony's developed after having a successful show season on Go-Go Gidget "Brandy". Rebecca rode for Sacred Heart University's NCAA and IHSA Equestrian team for one year while studying nursing. Rebecca moved back home to continue her education at Caldwell University and continued her riding at numerous barns where she worked green horses for lesson programs. Rebecca has a strength-based approach when it comes to her teaching and focuses on developing positive horsemanship with a positive attitude above all. Rebecca is currently completing her Master's Degree for Clinical Mental Health Counselor in hopes to create a therapeutic program right here at Misty Mountain Equestrian! While running the farm, Rebecca also works as a Crisis Intervention Specialist during the day. Rebecca aims to keep Misty Mountain a safe stigma-free zone for all to enjoy!
As a young girl, Sarah has always been fearless when it comes to horses and her ambitions. Growing up in a horse family, it was nothing out of the norm for her to be consumed by the equestrian lifestyle. She began riding at the age of 4 at Snowbird Acres Farm in Long Valley, New Jersey with trainer Stephanie Siegel. Sarah was a natural born rider and began showing almost immediately in Hunter/Jumper shows on an Arabian named Spring at her home farm. By the time she was 8 years old, she was flying through jumper courses doing rollbacks and oxers like it was her job at the Snowbird Acres. Growing up, Sarah always dreamed of going to Centenary University and riding on their equestrian team and that dream came true. While obtaining her bachelor’s in psychology and certification in paralegal studies, she rode at Centenary in their riding program, on their IHSA team and their Hunter/Jumper team. Here, she rode a variety of different horses and learned many skills that she brings to her everyday riding. Sarah has plans of continuing her education in getting her master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. Though Sarah’s riding approach is more disciplined, she aims to make you a strong rider and accomplish your riding goals. Sarah is available for lessons on Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturday’s for beginner through intermediate riding lessons.
